About Me

I am an accomplished Information Technology professional with over 25 years of experience, specializing in Cybersecurity for the past seven years. I hold industry-recognized certifications including CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) and CIRSC (Certified in Risk and Information Security Controls), which reflect my expertise in securing complex systems and managing information risk.

Before my IT career, I served for 10 years in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves with The Ontario Regiment, leaving in 2002 at the rank of Master Corporal. The leadership, discipline, and commitment to excellence developed during my military service continue to influence both my professional career and athletic pursuits.

I am also an avid endurance athlete, having begun competing in triathlons in 2008. Since then, I have completed dozens of local races and 18 Ironman events, including the prestigious Ironman World Championship. My dedication to pushing limits—whether in the boardroom, in uniform, or across the finish line—defines both my professional and personal ethos.

I first discovered Patagonman through a Facebook ad, and like many great adventures, curiosity quickly turned into research. As I dug deeper into what the race truly represented, it became clear that this was more than just another finish line. I have always been drawn to new and meaningful challenges, and after achieving my long-standing goal of reaching Kona as a Legacy Athlete, Patagonman felt like the perfect next step—raw, demanding, and deeply aligned with why I fell in love with endurance sport in the first place.

How I Discovered Patagonman

My Patagonman Journey

Patagonman was one of the most intense and transformative races I’ve ever experienced — a true extreme triathlon that pushed every part of me beyond familiar limits. From the pre-dawn ferry jump into icy Patagonian waters to the relentless climbs and winds on the 180 km bike, and finally the unforgiving trail marathon through rugged terrain, every moment demanded grit, patience, and adaptability. What stood out most wasn’t just the physical challenge but the way the race exposed my expectations and forced me to lean into support, adjust plans on the fly, and stay present when everything hurt. Crossing that finish line, ringing the iconic bell surrounded by the people who had believed in me, was a profoundly emotional reminder that endurance isn’t just about fitness — it’s about heart, resilience, and the shared journey every step of the way.

A Message to Future Competitors

If you are considering Patagonman, understand this clearly: you must arrive absolutely prepared and fully committed. This race will demand far more than fitness — it will test your planning, your patience, your adaptability, and your resolve. Patagonman will ask everything of you, and just when you believe you have given all you have, it will ask for more. Success here comes from respecting the course, trusting your training, leaning on your support crew, and embracing discomfort as part of the journey. This is not a race you simply “show up” for — it is one you must earn, long before you ever stand on that ferry.
